Parts of Microscope:

The objects which are very small in size, and it is not very difficult to see that object with the naked eye, in that time we use an instrument which helps us to check out the each and every part of that object very easily, this instrument is known as Microscope. If you want to get the information about Parts of Microscope, its types and functioning then the below given content can help you in a better way.

The Process of examining a small object by using this kind of instruments is called microscopy. There are different types microscopes are available in the market, according to its construction and work process.

Types of Microscope:

The common types of microscopes are:
  • Optical Microscopes
  • Compound Microscope
  • Stereo Microscope (dissecting microscope)
  • Confocal Laser scanning microscope
  • Electron microscopes.
  • Scanning Electron Microscope
  • Reflection electron microscopes
  • X-ray Microscope
  • Scanning Helium Ion Microscope (SHIM or HeIM)
  • Scanning acoustic microscope (SAM)
  • Electron Microscopes
  • Neutron Microscope
  • Scanning Probe Microscopes

Parts of Microscope:

Eyepiece or ocular lens:

For seeing the items under study, the lens is presented on the top which is called as Eyepiece or ocular lens. It contains the magnification of 10X or 15X.

Tube:

The eyepiece is connected to the objective lenses, with the help of Tube or the body tube, connects.

Resolving nosepiece:

The frames for the different objective lenses is called as resolving nose-piece. Also at the time of viewing the rotation of the lenses is done with it. Resolving nose-piece is also known as the Turret.

Objective lenses:

In a microscope there are three or four different ranged objective lenses are available. Commonly the ranges of these lenses are 10X, 40X, 100X powers. These have been colour coded Lenses, lowest power lens is smaller in size and the long one is the higher in power.

Diaphragm:

It is used for monitoring the quantity of Power that is transient through the opening of the stage. It is also very for the adjustment of the control of entrance light.

Coarse adjustment knob:

It is used for the focus on the scanning. Usually the short power lens is used for allowing the movement of the tube.

Fine adjustment knob:

The fine adjustment knob is used for the focusing on the oil. For focusing the high power lens, it helps in the movement of the body tube

Arm:

The work of Arm is to connect tube of the microscope with the base of the microscope and it also supports the microscope tube.

Stage:

It is used for adjusting the glides under the observation.

Stage clip:

It is used to clutch the slides in proper place.

Condenser:

The condenser lens is used for focusing the light on the sample on the time of observation. Condenser lenses are very important at the time of very high powers of 400X. A microscope with condenser lens gives a better image as compared to without condenser lens.

Base:

The base provides the basal support to the microscope.

Power switch:

The switches which are used to turn the illumination on or off is known as Power switch.
